China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued a statement on Sunday, to "solemnly remind" Chinese tourists to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future for safety concerns.
According to a statement, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel advisory on Friday, warning of unstable public security in Japan and multiple illegal and criminal incidents targeting Chinese nationals since the beginning of this year.
There have been multiple cases of Chinese nationals being attacked in Japan, with some still unsolved, amid a continued deterioration of the safety environment for Chinese nationals in Japan, according to the statement.
Recently, the Japanese leader openly made provocative remarks on the Taiwan question, seriously worsening the atmosphere for people-to-people exchanges between China and Japan and posing significant risks to the safety of Chinese nationals in Japan.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism solemnly reminds Chinese tourists to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future. Chinese tourists already in Japan should pay close attention to local safety situation, raise safety awareness, and strengthen self-protection. In case of an emergency, they should promptly report to the police and contact the Chinese embassy or consulates in Japan for assistance, the ministry said in the statement.
