The director-general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Masaaki Kanai, visited China since Monday. According to Japanese media report, during his visit in China, Kanai would hold consultations with the Chinese side regarding Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks on Taiwan question.

On Tuesday, Liu Jinsong, director-general of the Asian Affairs Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, met with Kanai at the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Around 2 pm, Kanai and his delegation left the Chinese Foreign Ministry. When approached by the media, he did not make any comments, China Central Television reported on Tuesday.
