When asked to comments on a report saying that the former prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, was convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death on Monday, and that Hasina said the verdict was "biased and politically motivated," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday that this is an internal affair of Bangladesh. 

"China consistently pursues a good-neighborly policy toward all Bangladeshi people and sincerely hopes for Bangladesh's unity, stability, and development," Mao said.
