Chinese embassy in Cambodia says it contacted local police to verify report of a missing Chinese national

The Chinee embassy in Cambodia contacted Cambodian police to verify the situation of a missing Chinese national in Cambodia, after social media posts on Sina Weibo said the person had been missing in Cambodia.

On the Tuesday night, netizens posted that a Chinese national surnamed Li had gone missing in Cambodia.

After learning of this information, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia immediately contacted the Cambodian police to verify the relevant situation, the embassy said in a Sina Weibo post on Wednesday.

The Embassy will continue to closely follow the progress of the case and effectively safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Cambodia, it said in the post.

On Tuesday, actor Tong Zhuo posted a message on social media seeking help, saying that the younger brother who grew up with him had lost contact after going out to work on November 13. His family has been searching for him through various channels.
