Guo Jiakun

As a friend and close neighbor to both Cambodia and Thailand, China sincerely hopes that the two sides will exercise restraint, meet each other halfway, and prevent the situation from escalating further, said Chinese FM Spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Tuesday when asked to comment on the renewed escalation of tensions between Thailand and Cambodia, as well as reports that Thai fighter jets struck Cambodian artillery positions on Monday. 

Guo noted that China will continue to play a constructive role, in its own way, in helping to ease tensions and cool down the situation.
