China and the EU held a trade-remedy dialogue this week and will continue consultations next week, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson He Yadong said at regular press conference Thursday, noting that China welcomes the EU's decision to restart consultations on price undertakings and appreciates that the EU has returned to resolving differences through dialogue.

The remarks were made in response to media inquiry for comment regarding the dialogue on trade remedies, and that the European Commission has recently reviewed the price undertakings submitted by certain Chinese companies in the anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles.

The MOFCOM spokesperson emphasized that the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, entrusted by various types of Chinese enterprises, has put forward a solution representing the overall position of the industry, He said, noting that China and the EU have held multiple rounds of consultations on this and achieved certain progress.

On a further note, He said that if the EU conducts separate consultations with individual companies while holding consultations with China, it will harm mutual trust and hinder overall efficiency.

We hope the EU will fully implement the important consensus reached at the China-EU leaders' meeting and strictly adhere to the principle of non-discrimination, the spokesperson said. Building on previous efforts, we look forward to properly resolving the frictions as soon as possible through dialogue and consultation, and creating an open and stable market environment for the development of China-EU industries, said He.
