Responding to a media question regarding whether the ministry could provide an update on the latest progress in the negotiations between China and the EU on electric-vehicle (EV) tariff issue and a minimum-price scheme for EVs, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson said on Thursday that China and the European Union are holding consultations on the ongoing EV case, and reiterated China's willingness to resolve differences through dialogue.
At a regular press briefing, a spokesperson for MOFCOM He Yadong said China's position on relevant issue has been consistent. "We are willing to work with the EU through dialogue and consultation to properly resolve differences, and advance toward an industry-wide, comprehensive solution," He Yadong said.
He Yadong called on the EU to meet China halfway and to implement the important consensus reached at China-EU leaders' meetings, urging the European side to show genuine sincerity. Building on previous efforts, it is hoped the EU will address the dispute through continued dialogue and consultation at an early date, while taking reasonable concerns of both parties into account, helping create an open and stable market environment conducive to the development of China-EU industries.
