Since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis, China has maintained close communication with all relevant parties, including Russia and Ukraine, and has consistently worked to promote a ceasefire, end the fighting, and encourage peace talks. China's efforts are there for the international community to see. China supports all efforts conducive to peace and will continue to play a constructive role in this regard, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday in response to a question about whether China is participating in negotiation process for the Ukraine peace plan and what role will China play. 

In response to another question about Ukrainian President Ukrainian President claiming that Ukraine will impose more sanctions against Russian entities and "those working with Russia's military industry," including individuals from China, Lin said that China has always opposed unilateral sanctions that violate international law and lack authorization from the UN Security Council. "We urge the Ukrainian side to immediately correct its mistake. China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens," Lin said.
