In response to a media inquiry concerning that Honduras' National Electoral Council announced the vote count results on December 24 and declared National Party candidate Nasry Asfura the country's newly elected president, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said China respects the choice of the Honduran people and stands ready to work with Honduras, on the basis of the one-China principle, to continue advancing bilateral relations.
