Currently, the situation along the China-India border is generally stable, and communication channels between the two sides remain smooth. We oppose any unwarranted comments on this by relevant countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular press conference on Thursday in response to a question by a Russian media reporter. The reporter asked what objectives does the US aim to achieve through allegation in the latest Pentagon report claiming that China probably seeks to capitalize on decreased tension along the line of actual control with India to prevent the deepening of US-India ties, against the background that recent developments in China-India relations, such as a photo of the leaders of two countries during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, among others, have previously triggered tense reactions in the US Congress.

Lin said that the US report distorts China's defense policy, drives a wedge between China and other countries, and seeks excuses to maintain its own military hegemony. China firmly opposes this.

China consistently views and handles its relations with India from a strategic height and long-term perspective, and stands ready to strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, promote cooperation, and properly manage differences with India, in order to advance bilateral relations along a track of healthy and stable development. The China-India boundary issue is a matter between the two countries, Lin said.
