A car plunged into a river from a construction trestle at the Xijiang Railway Bridge in Heshan of Jiangmen city, South China's Guangdong Province, on December 13, killing all five family members inside the vehicle, Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday, citing local authorities.
The Xijiang Railway Bridge, a key control project along the Nanhai-Xinhui Expressway, broke ground at the end of 2024 and is being built by the China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group (CREC Guangzhou).
The construction trestle is normally used only by construction vehicles. Following the incident, the site was cordoned off and the construction suspended. Cause of the accident is under investigation and follow-up handling of the incident is underway, according to Xinhua.
