China's Yangtze River Delta railway network plans to temporarily suspend some passenger train services from Sunday to Wednesday in response to snow and other severe weather brought by the ongoing cold wave, according to a release from China Railway Shanghai Group's official Weibo account on Monday.

To ensure operational and passenger safety, railway authorities said they will implement temporary suspensions of some passenger train services from 8 am Monday to 8 am Tuesday on several high-speed railways passing through snow-affected areas, including sections of the Beijing-Hong Kong, Beijing-Shanghai, Shanghai-Chengdu, Xuzhou-Lanzhou, Hefei-Bengbu, Zhengzhou-Fuyang, and Hefei-Xinyi high-speed railways.

Rail authorities said that they will closely monitor weather developments and take flexible measures, including speed limits, additional suspensions, service resumptions and extra train services as conditions allow, dynamically adjusting train operations to ensure passenger safety and travel needs.

China's National Meteorological Center on Sunday evening issued multiple weather alerts, including a yellow alert for cold waves, a blue alert for heavy snow and a yellow alert for icing, warning that from Saturday night to Wednesday, large parts of central and eastern China, including the Huanghuai, Jianghuai, and Jiangnan regions, as well as parts of South China, will experience sharp temperature drops, strong winds and widespread rain and snow, as the Global Times previously reported.

On Monday morning, a customer service representative at China Railway's 12306 hotline told local media that not all train services from Shanghai to Beijing and Xuzhou had been suspended, with some trains still operating as scheduled. Passengers are advised to check station announcements or contact the 12306 service hotline for the latest train operation information.
