In response to media inquiry over the UK government's approval of China's new embassy plan in London, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing on Wednesday that providing support and facilities for the construction of diplomatic missions is an international obligation of the host country under international law.

The planning and design of the new Chinese Embassy in the UK is a high-quality proposal, and its application, review and final approval have fully complied with established international diplomatic practice as well as local laws, regulations and procedural requirements, the spokesperson said.
