When asked to comment on that the European Parliament on Wednesday adopted the Implementation of the common foreign and security policy - Annual report 2025 and the Implementation of the common security and defence policy - Annual report 2025, which contain multiple references to China, the spokesperson of the Chinese Mission said on Friday that the relevant reports of the European Parliament disregard facts, distort the truth, and crudely interfere in China's internal affairs on issues related to the Taiwan region, Hong Kong, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Xizang Autonomous Region, and the South China Sea. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this, according to an official release from the Chinese Mission to the EU.
The Taiwan question concerns China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is the core of China's core interests and a red line that must not be crossed. The one-China principle is a fundamental norm governing international relations and the political foundation for the development of China-EU relations. China urges the European Parliament to abide by the one-China principle and stop sending any wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
China also urges the European Parliament to take concrete steps to correct its erroneous claims and actions on issues related to the Taiwan Region, Hong Kong, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Xizang Autonomous Region, and the South China Sea, and to uphold the overall interests of China-EU relations through practical actions, according to the release.
