Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang arrived in Beijing on Sunday and remained in the capital on Monday, marking the Beijing leg of his 2026 visit to China, according to media reports. Chinese experts said Huang's visit is aimed at projecting a "China-friendly" image and boosting morale among local employees, while also seeking to engage Chinese authorities and key clients in an effort to promote H200 chips.
On Sunday, Huang was spotted at WF Central in Beijing, where he dined at the Yunnan restaurant "Ban Shanyao." During the meal, he posed for photos with other diners, with the interactions described as relaxed and friendly, the Star Market Daily reported.
The trip marks Huang's first visit to China in 2026. He had earlier completed the Shanghai leg of his itinerary, with the Beijing stop forming a key part of his multi-city visit to China, according to media reports.
After his Shanghai and Beijing trips, Huang is set to travel to Shenzhen and the island of Taiwan, Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the issue.
Huang traveled to the Chinese mainland at least three times in 2025 and met with China's commerce minister in July. Experts said his repeated visits highlight the importance he places on the Chinese market and his hope to maintain stable and constructive trade engagement with China.
China welcomes all foreign companies, including Nvidia, to deepen their presence in the Chinese market, but core concerns on China's side must also be addressed by Nvidia for cooperation to be sustainable, Zhou Mi, a senior researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, told the Global Times.
