When asked about what measures China is currently taking to ensure the immediate release of the Venezuelan president and his wife, as well as to help safeguard Venezuela's sovereignty, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said during a press conference on Tuesday that the US use of force against a sovereign state and forcible seizure of another country's president constitutes hegemonic behavior that seriously violates international law and infringes upon Venezuela's sovereignty. The spokesperson emphasized that China supports Venezuela in defending its own sovereignty, dignity, and legitimate rights, and is willing to work with the international community to firmly uphold the UN Charter, adhere to the bottom line of international morality, and safeguard international fairness and justice.
