China to deepen intl law enforcement co-op to crack down on telecom fraud: FM responds to execution of Myanmar-related criminals

"Over a period of time, China has actively worked with Myanmar and other countries to crack down on cross-border telecom and online fraud crimes, jointly eradicating the scourges of online gambling, telecom fraud and drugs, safeguarding people's lives and property, and maintaining order in regional exchanges and cooperation, with notable results," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday's regular press conference.

Guo made the remarks when asked to comment on reports that China has executed 11 members of the northern Myanmar-based Ming family crime syndicate case which resulted in the deaths of 14 Chinese citizens, and on what efforts China is currently advancing to combat fraud networks involving Chinese nationals.

Guo said China will continue to deepen international law enforcement cooperation and intensify efforts to crack down on telecom and online fraud, illegal online gambling and other related cross-border criminal activities, jointly eradicating the scourges of gambling, fraud and drugs.
