At a regular press briefing of Chinese foreign ministry on Thursday, a Russian reporter said that on February 4, the Beginning of Spring, the leaders of China and Russia held a virtual meeting. According to Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit China in the first half of 2026 at the invitation of the Chinese leader. The reporter asked whether China could provide more information.
In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that President Xi Jinping held a virtual meeting with President Putin yesterday, during which the two leaders had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern. He noted that the heads of state of China and Russia have maintained strategic communication through various channels, steering China-Russia relations to move forward steadily in the new era.
