When asked to comment on the US intelligence agencies' annual threat assessment report claiming that Japan's remarks on the Taiwan question have significantly shifted, primarily referencing Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's numerous remarks, and that the Japanese government this morning rejected this assessment and stated that its position on "survival-threatening situation" remains unchanged, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday that Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan constitute blatant interference in China's internal affairs, reveal ambitions for armed intervention in the Taiwan question and pose a military threat to China.

China has repeatedly made its position clear. The relevant report indicates that the international community is increasingly aware of the pernicious nature and impact of Takachi's remarks and is vigilant about the dangerous trend of Japan's active provocations. Japan cannot justify its actions with mere claims of an unchanged stance, nor can it gain the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community, Lin said.

"We urge Japan to reflect on and correct its mistakes, change course, adhere to the four China-Japan political documents and its own commitments through concrete actions, and abide by the pacifist provisions in Japan's Constitution, instead of continuing further down the wrong path," Lin noted.
