When asked to comment on Vietnamese officials' remarks over the weekend on China's land reclamation activities in the Xisha Islands, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday that the Xisha Islands are China's inherent territory and there is no dispute over them. China's necessary construction on its own territory is aimed at improving the living conditions of island residents and serving local economic development, Lin said.
