Chinese side has repeatedly emphasized that a prolonged war serves no one’s interests and will only cause more casualties, unnecessary losses and further spillover of the conflict if this war continues, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday when addressing a media question that Iran has denied any talks taking place with the US, contradicting US President’s claim that Iran wants a deal. Is the Chinese side aware of any negotiations between the US and Iran and whether China is working to promote dialogue between the two sides?

The urgent priority now is to promote peace talks and seize opportunities for peace and work to put an end to the fighting, Lin said. “We support all efforts that help ease tensions and cool down the situation. All parties should move in the same direction and create conditions for launching truly meaningful and sincere peace talks,” Lin said, adding that China stands ready to continue playing a constructive role for this end.
