Three people were killed and two others sustained minor injuries after a fire broke out at a chemical company in Yumen City, Northwest China's Gansu Province, on Monday morning, according to Xinhua on Tuesday.
At 10:47 am on Monday, a fire broke out in a workshop of Gansu Jinte Chemical Co in Yumen. Following the incident, Yumen government immediately activated its emergency response and launched a full-scale rescue operation, read a report on Yumen Fabu, an official WeChat account of the local government.
The incident resulted in three deaths and two minor injuries. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment and are in stable condition, according to the report, which cited the local emergency management bureau.
The relevant responsible personnel from the company involved have been placed under control by public security authorities in accordance with the law. Post-incident work and the investigation into the cause of the incident are currently underway in an orderly manner, per the report.
Earlier, Xinhua also reported that relevant authorities in Gansu Province were conducting inspections to identify potential risks and hazards at chemical enterprises across the province, in a bid to firmly prevent similar incidents from recurring.
