When asked to comment on activities marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy on April 23, during which Chinese naval vessels were opened to the public in cities including Qingdao, and the events attracted media reporters, commentators, influencers, and many residents from the Taiwan region who praised the achievements of the PLA Navy and said that only with the protection of the Chinese armed forces can the residents of Taiwan be free from foreign intimidation, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday that the sincere remarks made by visitors from Taiwan island reflect the shared sentiments of people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. 

He added that only a world-class military and a strong national defense can serve as the most reassuring support for all Chinese people at home and abroad.
