The world's media outlets have been closely following the historic summit between Chinese and US leaders in the past days. BBC said in its live coverage on Friday that the two leaders concluded very successful talks in Beijing while Reuters, quoting US President Donald Trump, said his visit was incredible. The US magazine The Diplomat said the two leaders seek a new chapter in China-US relations.

Some US media outlets updated on the visit in live coverage. Media outlets like NBC News also put a column "US-China Summit" on its home page. The New York Times said in an article on Thursday local time that "the visit has been closely watched as a pivotal moment for relations between the US and China, geopolitical rivals bound by one of the world's most profitable commercial relationships."

Some European media also put the coverage of the China-US leader's meeting in the spotlight. Euronews said on Friday that the two leaders wrapped up summit claiming progress in stabilizing ties but differences remain.

"Ahead of Donald Trump's visit to Beijing, both governments aim to stabilize relations and avoid further tariff escalation, especially as global economic pressures mount due to the conflict in Iran," the DW said.

Analysts describe the meeting as a "risk‑management summit," with China potentially positioned as a mediator in the Middle East to help secure vital trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, the DW added.

The French media Le Monde said "Trump welcomed in Beijing with pomp and a stern warning."

For the US president's visit, the Chinese leader put on a display of grandeur, while remaining very firm on the issue of Taiwan, it said.

Spanish media El Pais made an analysis on "Why Xi Referenced the Thucydides Trap" during the meeting on Thursday.

The reference — symbolizing the risk of conflict between a rising power and a hegemonic one — reflects both a desire for stability and confidence in China's rise, the Spanish media said.

Some Asian media outlets, for example, in South Korea, paid attention to the details in the meeting between the two leaders.

In reporting a private meeting between the two leaders on Friday in Zhongnanhai compound in central Beijing, South Korean media the Chosun Daily said trees and flowers there symbolize enduring, intertwined US-China ties.

"A US with little to show, a China growing more confident," Japanese media the Asahi Shimbun said in an article covering the two leaders' meeting.

When answering a question raised by a reporter from China Central Television (CCTV), South Korean presidential office's senior secretary for public relations and communication Lee Kyu-yeon said on Friday that South Korea welcomes the meeting between the Chinese and US leaders as well as the development of China-US relations, adding that Seoul hopes the summit will also further deepen and strengthen both China-South Korea relations and US-South Korea relations, CCTV reported.

The two leader's meeting also attracted a wide range of attention on social media in China and abroad.

"Being invited to this garden is China's highest gesture of hospitality and respect given to a head of state," a netizen @akcay_nurettinn said on Friday in commenting on the private meeting between the two leaders on Friday at Zhongnanhai.

The meeting could help push the Middle East crisis toward de-escalation, at least temporarily, Yasiru Ranaraja, founding director and researcher at the Belt and Road Initiative Sri Lanka, said in an X post on Friday.

"Most interesting takeaway for me is that China is out with a new frame for the relationship," Rush Doshi, an American political scientist currently serving as an assistant professor of security studies at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, said in an X post on Thursday.

Presumably, any U.S. actions to reckon with excess capacity or deter conflict could be framed by Beijing as a violation of this new frame. Beijing acknowledges the relationship as competitive - as they did with us in 2023 - but talks about keeping it within acceptable limits, Doshi said.

Chinese and US leaders agreed on a new vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability during the meeting on Thursday, according to Xinhua. This will provide strategic guidance for China-US relations over the next three years and beyond, Xinhua said.

The relevant topics to the meetings between the leaders have also been on the top rankings on Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo on Friday.

The topic of "two leaders talk while walking," referring to the private meeting in the Zhongnanhai leadership compound, has gained over 24 million of views on Friday afternoon.

On a post about Trump departing China, some netizens leave messages such as "China and the United States move forward hand in hand to create a better future." "May world peace prevail, and may China-US friendship endure for generations to come."
