According to the strategic transformation of Geely, the carmaker is determined to increase added values and enter the high-end market. Emgrand series, being the pilot of domestic independent brands, is set to challenge joint venture cars in 2011.
Emgrand EC7 sales volume approaching 100,000 units
Ever since EC7 was launched in August of 2009, its monthly sales sees consecutive surges, from 3,000 in the beginning to 8,000 at present.
Different from low-end car models of the company, the premium brand wins with its quality instead of low price. It is produced from the most advanced platform of Geely. The carmaker also cooperates with first-class car-parts suppliers such as Siemens, Delphi, Bosch, and so on.
EC7 also boasts safety. It scored 46.8 and got a five-star prize at the C-NCAP crash test, hitting a record for independent brand cars.
EC8 stands steady in mid-end car market
In order to expand its production line after the success of EC7 series, Emgrand developed the first B-class car model - Emgrand EC8.
EC8 comes in two different engines, Geely's own 2.0 and a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4. Its wheel base is as large as 2,805mm.
The car model focuses on comfort and safety, and has been popular among customers. In 2011, Geely plans to work with China Unicom to launch a 3G Emgrand EC8.
EX7 leads the way to glory
Emgrand EX7 is the first SUV under Geely. The car displays elegance both in exterior and interior. The SUV comes in two versions on different engines, JLγ-4G18 and JLδ-4G20.
The Emgrand series has already stood steady with the hit of EC7 and EC8. After EX7, EC7 with DSI, and Emgrand new energy cars are launched this year, Emgrand will establish a complete product line, covering sedans and SUVs.
