A "million-yuan weight loss" campaign launched by Shenzhen-based technology company Insta360 has attracted public attention, Nanfang Daily reported.

Designed to promote healthy living, regular exercise and balanced diets among staff workers, the firm is offering all employees who register 500 yuan in cash for every half kilogram they lose.

This year a post-2000s employee surnamed Xie, shed 20 kilograms in just 90 days, earning 20,000 yuan in cash and claiming the title of "weight-loss champion." Xie said that during the contest she strictly controlled her diet and exercised for an hour and a half every day, ultimately achieving a remarkable transformation.

Asked how she stayed committed and whether she had considered giving up, she smiled and said: "I think now is the best time in my life to become the best version of myself — not just for beauty, but also for health." She also shared actor Qin Hao's weight-loss method in the company group chat to encourage colleagues stuck in a plateau.

Since 2022, the company's "million-yuan weight loss" challenge has been held for seven consecutive rounds, awarding about 2 million yuan in total prizes. Over the past year, 99 employees have taken part, shedding a combined 950 kilograms and splitting 1 million yuan in cash rewards.

The event organizer said: "We hope the 'million-yuan weight loss' challenge promotes healthy living and encourages employees to pay more attention to their health outside of work. It's also a way to inspire everyone to approach work and life with a positive mindset."

The challenge also includes a "betting" rule — participants who regain weight are fined 800 yuan for each half kilogram gained. So far, no one has been penalized, Nanfang Daily reported.
