A Chinese college mechanic student from Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province won gold prize in the rail transportation category with his remarkable hardware skills in the 2025 World Vocational College Skills Competition, according to local TV news. 

Song Jiajie, 21-year-old junior college student, demonstrated remarkable skills in dealing with bolts, using hardware tools, and exercising safety instructions. According a video footage posted online, Song and his teammates were in a competition phase of loosening a bolt with socket wrenches. Song looked confident and highly experienced where the way he uses the ratchet almost created a motion blur effect. In no time he had successfully and safely removed the bolt. 

"I can't really see the progress because this deep well socket covers the entire bolt when I unscrew it, but I have to make sure it does not fall off. It is a strict safety requirement in real practices to make sure every bolt and its washer do not fall off, especially when we take them off from the top, otherwise it would be a safety threat to the train operation if they fall into some critical locations," Song said. 

Song also told the reporter that he is able to feel the position of the bolt even with his eyes closed. "The most important aspect is you have to know precisely where the bolt and nut are, it is a skill that can be developed through days after days of practices."
