More than 20 athletes from eight countries gathered at the Yellow River Datisiya Cliffs, located in Hejin, North China's Shanxi Province to participate in the International Highline Challenge and High-Altitude Dragon Dance Show from September 13 to 16, competing on nylon lines stretched across the cliffs — each only 2.5 centimeters wide and suspended over 180 meters above the ground, according to Jimu News.
Top slackliners from around the world, including 11 international athletes and leading Chinese competitors such as Shi Hailin, He Jinyi, and Ou Guoping (a Gen-Z athlete), showcased breathtaking skills that highlighted both natural beauty and cultural tradition.
A thrilling video released by local news shows athletes performing spectacular maneuvers on the highline — some working in small teams to stage a dragon dance, while others 'simply' try to hold still, whether balancing on one foot or even lying down to sleep on the line.
After the finals, the top three athletes joined together for a spectacular dragon dance performance on the highline, blending Chinese folk culture with extreme sports against the dramatic backdrop of the Yellow River canyon, said the report.
