Local police in Sanya, South China's Hainan Province has released a statement on an intentional assault case on Saturday where one man stabbed three to death. 

At around 12:00 noon on Saturday, an intentional assault case occurred on Dadonghai Beach in Sanya. The male suspect, surnamed Ren, 52, was arrested on the spot. According to the preliminary investigation, Ren and the victims - surnamed Tao, Li and Han - are all migrant workers from other provinces employed in Sanya. The two parties had previously been involved in a dispute in Sanya in 2023 due to a vehicle scratch, according to a police statement released by Jiyang Branch of Sanya Public Security Bureau. 

When they encountered each other again on Dadonghai Beach on Saturday, a verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight. Ren used a fruit knife he was carrying to stab the three victims. Two were killed at the scene, and the third succumbed to injuries despite medical efforts. The case is currently under intensive investigation, read the statement.
