The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia on Monday reminded Chinese nationals near the Cambodia-Thailand border to strengthen safety precautions, according to the notice issued on the official WeChat account of the embassy.
A new round of conflict erupted along the Cambodia-Thailand border on Monday, causing casualties, the notice said. The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia urged Chinese nationals in the country - especially those near border areas such as Preah Vihear province, Oddar Meanchey province, and Banteay Meanchey province - to closely follow the local security situation, remain vigilant, enhance protective measures, stay safe, and avoid traveling to border areas.
The Cambodian government said on Monday that a total of 377 schools in border provinces have been shut down due to the ongoing border conflict with Thailand, Xinhua News Agency reported. Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra said on Monday that four innocent Cambodian civilians have been killed in the conflict, with nine others wounded, as tens of thousands of people have fled their homes near the border for safe shelters.
