Chinese Embassy is intensifying efforts to verify reported situation: FM responds to possible injuries to Chinese nationals in Cambodia-Thailand border

Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has once again issued a safety advisory, urging Chinese nationals to temporarily avoid traveling to the border areas between Cambodia and Thailand. The Embassy is currently intensifying efforts to verify the details of the situation as reported in the media and will provide consular protection and assistance to the Chinese nationals involved within its scope of duties, Chines Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday in response to media inquiry that a casino area near Cambodia-Thailand border came under artillery fire, possibly resulting in injuries to Chinese nationals, and what plans does China have to evacuate or protect Chinese nationals in the area.

Chinese nationals in other regions are advised not to travel to the Cambodia-Thailand border areas for the time being. In case of emergencies, one should report to the local police promptly and seek assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, according to a statement issued by the Embassy on its official WeChat account on Wednesday.
