 When asked to comment on the claims by Taiwan’s “defense authority” that the aircraft carrier Fujian transited the Taiwan Straits on December 16, and that it would continue to conduct close monitoring, Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson at the Chinese Defense Ministry, said at a regular press conference on Thursday that this was a normal training conducted by the aircraft carrier Fujian, and that such training will continue to be organized as needed. 

“We urge the ‘Taiwan independence’ armed forces to recognize reality and not to engage in futile resistance and illusions,” Zhang said.
