Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil posted on social platform X on Wednesday local time to appreciate China's support for the full sovereignty that the Venezuelan people have over the territory and natural resources.
Gil also shared a video of Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responding to a media inquiry regarding the US' energy request on Venezuela with the post.
In the video, Mao said "Venezuela is a sovereign state and has full permanent sovereignty over all its natural resources and economic activities. The US blatantly used force against Venezuela and asked the country to 'favor' America with regard to its oil reserves. Such bullying seriously breaches international law, infringes on Venezuela's sovereignty, and violates the rights of the Venezuelan people."
"China strongly condemns this. Let me stress that the lawful rights and interests of China and other countries in Venezuela must be protected," Mao said, per the video.
In the X post, Gil stated that China strongly condemns the serious violation of international law and the sovereignty of Venezuela, as well as the intimidation actions by the US. The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela led by President Nicolas Maduro thanks this support from the Chinese side that defends international law and the full sovereignty that the Venezuelan people have over the territory and natural resources.
