After friendly discussions between the diplomatic departments of China and Somalia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi adjusted the schedule of his visit. During his stay in Africa, Wang held a telephone talk with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Dhaay. The Chinese Foreign Minister stated that China will as always support Somalia in safeguarding its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning noted when responding to a question on the postponement of Wang's visit to Somalia , which was scheduled on January 9, and whether that adjustment was due to security reasons.

The two sides also reached new consensus on deepening cooperation in various fields between the two countries, Mao said.
