Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan issued a fresh safety alert on Monday, citing the continuing severe and complex situation along the Tajikistan and Afghanistan border. On Sunday evening, four Afghan armed militants illegally infiltrated into the territory of Tajikistan's Khatlon Region from Afghanistan's Badakhshan Province and were killed by Tajik border forces.
The embassy urges Chinese enterprises and citizens in the border area to closely monitor the regional security situation, enhance their risk prevention awareness, further strengthen security measures and evacuate the border area in an orderly manner as soon as possible. Chinese citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border area.
Previously, an armed attack took place on November 26, 2025 in the border district of Shamsiddin-Shohin in Khatlon region near Afghanistan, leaving three Chinese nationals dead and one injured. The embassy strongly condemned it, calling the incident a grave criminal act. Later on November 30, another armed attack in the same area also resulted in casualties of Chinese citizens, prompting the embassy to issue a safety alert.
