When asked whether China welcomes the "chaos" said to have been caused by the Trump administration in the West and the Chinese side's view on the matter as in one way, some observers think China might, to some extent, welcome such "chaos" and in another sense, obviously it is also harming global trade, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that China consistently adheres to an independent foreign policy of peace. On the basis of mutual respect and equality, we engage in friendly exchanges with all countries and are always committed to being a positive, stabilizing and constructive force. We have no intention, nor will we, compete with any country for influence.
China believes that, regardless of changes in the international situation, upholding the international system with the UN at its core, the international order based on international law and the fundamental norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter serves the common interests of all nations in the international community.
