World leaders reacted with messages of concern for the US President, who was rushed to safety after gunshots rang out at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday.

Traditional allies across the Atlantic Ocean showed support to the US leader and condemned the violent attack.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer wrote on Sunday in his X post that he was "shocked by the scenes at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington overnight," and he found it "a huge relief that @POTUS, the First Lady and all those attending are safe."

Closely following Starmer's post, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also wrote on X that "relied to hear that @POTUS Donald Trump and @FLOTUS Melania Trump and everyone attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner are safe." She also added in the post that "Violence has no place in politics, ever."

"The armed attack targeting the President of the United States last night is unacceptable. Violence has no place in a democracy. I extend my full support to Donald Trump," French President Macron wrote on Sunday afternoon on X.

Despite differences with the US over Iran and often considered a rebel in the NATO, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez condemned in his X post on Sunday the attack against Trump while noting "Violence is never the way. Humanity will only advance through democracy, coexistence, and peace." Sanchez left the message in Spanish.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his X post that he was "Relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel." And Modi extended his best wishes for their continued safety and well-being in the post.

Also on X, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said he was "deeply shocked by the disturbing shooting incident," and was "relieved to know President Trump, the First Lady, and other attendees are safe."

Saying he was "pleased to hear the President and the First Lady, along with all attendees at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, are safe," Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted on X that "We applaud the work of the Secret Service and law enforcement agencies for their swift action."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote that his wife Sara and he "were shocked by the attempted assassination of President @realDonaldTrump last night in Washington, DC." "We are relieved that the President and the First Lady are safe and strong. We send our wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the wounded police officer and salute the US Secret Service for their swift and decisive action," he wrote in the X post.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung wrote on X in both English and Korean that he was "deeply shocked" by the violent incident and "It is especially regrettable that such an incident occurred at an event meant to reaffirm the role of the press and freedom of speech."

After saying that he was relieved to hear "President Donald Trump and the First Lady, as well as all those present, are safe," Lee said "the Government of the Republic of Korea firmly opposes all forms of violence and extremism that erode the values of democracy and the rule of law."
