Asked by the media to comment on that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung recently expressed concern over "illegal fishing" by some Chinese fishing vessels, Guo Jiakun, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said at a regular press conference on Friday that maintaining stability in the waters between China and South Korea and ensuring a sound order for fisheries production serve the common interests of both sides.

China has consistently required its fishermen to conduct fishing activities in accordance with laws and regulations, while firmly safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests, Guo said, noting that China and South Korea have established a relatively mature dialogue mechanism on fisheries issues and have maintained close communication on relevant matters.
