A 58-year-old woman from Central China's Hunan Province was reported missing on May 27 in the mountain in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province. She was found six days later in stable condition, the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported on Monday.
According to her family, the woman suffers from Alzheimer's disease. After she went missing, family members joined multiple rescue teams in searching the mountain, but no trace of her was found for several days, the report said.
On Sunday morning, local rescue teams dispatched eight rescue vehicles, equipped with two large drones and other gear, mobilizing over 70 personnel for an urgent mountain search operation.
A rescue team leader said that upon arrival, members were divided into eight squads to search along the ridgelines. "The terrain where she went missing is extremely complex, with wild grass over one meter high." Persistent heavy rain had made the mountain muddy and slippery, further complicating the operation.
After more than two hours, the team finally found the woman alive in a dense thicket, about 400 to 500 meters from where she was last seen.
Rescuers carried her down the mountain on a stretcher, and she was taken to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment. The woman is currently in stable condition, the report said.
