China has repeatedly emphasized that delaying the war is not in the interests of any party. Only by talking can we avoid more casualties and prevent the spread of the war, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday in response to US President Donald Trump's claim that he might soon reach an agreement with Iran to end the conflict in the Middle East, but at the same time he did not rule out the possibility of taking ground actions and carrying out more strikes against Iran.

"We once again call on all parties to show sincerity, seize all opportunities and windows for peace, start the negotiation process as soon as possible, and end this war that should not have happened as soon as possible," Mao said.
